If you are planning a visit to the Sierra Oeste, you must go and see the famous valley on the eastern edge of Gredos's mountain range, the "valle de Iruelas", or even the 'Águila' caves in Arenas de San Pedro.
Valle de Iruelas is a natural park near San Martin de Valdeiglesias. If you want to go there, you must drive along the N-403 to El Tiemblo. It's next to the “Burguillo” reservoir.
The Valle de Iruelas is a wildlife reserve, and one of the best places to watch the black vulture in Europe.
In this valley, in the last century there was a village, “ Las Cruceras”. People worked the wood and resin. Their houses have been restored as rural accommodation.
If you visit the Valley de Iruelas you can go trekking, riding, swimming, fishing, cycling… Also, you can visit the “Centro de Interpretación de la Naturaleza” and you can walk along a beautiful 'bird-watching' path.
I suggest that you visit this place. It´s lovely!
